Frequently Asked Questions

How long does therapy take?

Length of therapy depends on the following:

  • Your motivation to make changes
  • Your commitment to working during the session and applying what you have learned outside the session
  • The length of time you have been living with the problem(s)
  • The severity of the issues
  • The goals you set for yourself
  • Your personal preference for how quickly you are able to make and sustain changes.

Depending on the issues that you wish to discuss, you may find that a handful of sessions meet your needs. For life-changing situations or severe trauma, resolving your issues may take some time. As the client, you ultimately make the decision about how long you want to remain in therapy.

How will I know when I am done with therapy?

One way you will know is by clearly defining at the beginning of therapy what you want to accomplish. As your therapist, Ann will assist you in setting measurable, objective goals and support you in achieving them.

What if I don't agree with the therapist or don't understand the approach?

Ann expects clients to let her know when they disagree and/or don't understand so both of you can discuss the issue and address collaboratively any changes that need to be made. As the client for Ann's services, you have a right to understand the ways you and she are working together.

Does my insurance cover your services?

Fees are paid by you at the time of service. Ann will provide you with a statement at the beginning of each month, which you may submit to your insurance company if you wish to use your insurance coverage. You can check with your provider for more information.

How do I know who is the right therapist for me?

It is important to feel comfortable. When looking for a therapist, pay attention to professional expertise, length of experience, and how at ease you feel when speaking on the phone and meeting in the office.
